theScore's preseason All-American team

With the college football season about to kick off, theScore presents the 2016 preseason All-American team.

This group of supremely talented players features the very best college football has to offer. The likes of DeShaun Watson, Leonard Fournette, and Cam Robinson headline the offensive side of the ball, while Myles Garrett, Raekwon McMillan, and Desmond King are among the standouts on the defensive side of the ball.

Only three players on offense received unanimous selections - with both Fournette and Watson failing to receive that honor. On the defensive side there was a lot more of a consensus with six unanimous selections, including three members of the defensive line.

Alabama led the way with four selections followed by Florida State with three. USC, Texas A&M, Ohio State, Michigan, and Florida all feature two players on the preseason squad. The SEC led all conferences with nine All-Americans, while the Big Ten (seven) and the Pac-12 (six) were also well-represented.

Offense

Robinson, Roderick Johnson, and JuJu Smith-Schuster were the only offensive players to show up on every ballot, and in what could be considered a minor upset, Dalvin Cook edged out last year's Heisman finalist Christian McCaffrey for the second spot in the back field next to Fournette, though McCaffrey will be heard from again later.

Defense

Garrett, McMillan, and King were joined by Jonathan Allen, Malik McDowell, and Derwin James as unanimous choices. Florida will have to do without Teez Tabor, formerly known as Jalen, due to a Week 1 suspension, but the ultra gifted corner still deserves a spot on the team.

Special Teams

While McCaffrey may have missed out on a spot at running back, Stanford's Mr. Everything does join Andy Phillips and JK Scott on the special teams unit after recording both a punt and kick return for a touchdown last season.
