USC's Smith-Schuster leaves practice with sprained toe

Gary A. Vasquez-USA TODAY Sports

USC star wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster left practice Friday with a sprained right toe, but head coach Clay Helton said afterward the injury isn't serious.

The junior was assisted off the field and had his foot wrapped by trainers after he landed awkwardly while coming down with a catch. Helton did not indicate how long Smith-Schuster may be sidelined.

Smith-Schuster is coming off a remarkable sophomore campaign, in which he notched 89 receptions for 1,454 yards, and 10 touchdowns. If healthy, he's expected to post another set of monster numbers this year.
