Report: North Texas receiver Turner Smiley arrested for DWI

North Texas wide receiver Turner Smiley was arrested early Wednesday morning on a DWI charge, according to Brett Vito of the Denton Record-Chronicle.

Smiley was arrested around 4 a.m. and booked into Denton County jail.

The Frisco, Texas, native was expected to be a starter this season at receiver, with the possibility of also becoming a kick and punt returner. He caught 25 passes for 255 yards and one touchdown in nine games last year with the Mean Green.

North Texas opens the season Sept. 3 against SMU.
