Harbaugh: The 'cool people' liked my rap performance

Jim Harbaugh's latest media stunt involved his part in an epic rap video released last week, and the Michigan coach discussed the feedback from the performance Monday during Big Ten Media Days.

"My default is usually yes, action why not?" Harbaugh said about being asked to rap in the video. "The reaction has been very good, I've gotten multiple texts, phone calls and comments from people that really liked it. I think the cool people liked it."

Harbaugh, who was clad in a suit with Michigan baseball cap throughout his presser, couldn't help but smile at his "cool people" comment. It was just one of the highlights from the always-entertaining coach's media availability. Earlier in the session, the 52-year-old thought he had created a new word for the English language when discussing how he allocates playing time.

"Everything will be based on a meritocracy, you will be known by your effort and your talent," Harbaugh said. "Is that a word, meritocracy? I hope I made that word up too, I never really researched it. Gosh, I thought I made that up!"

While reporters were quick to point out that he didn't create the word meritocracy, the public is certainly buying what Harbaugh is selling. After opening as a 15/1 favorite to win the national championship, Michigan has been the most bet team in Las Vegas to finish as the champions, and have seen their odds plummet to 7/1 as a result.

Harbaugh's second season with his alma mater opens Sept. 3 versus Hawaii.
