Texas A&M's Garrett: I can 'absolutely' get 20-plus sacks

Myles Garrett isn't shying away from the hype, and he isn't about to shy away from the record books either.

Texas A&M's havoc-wreaking defensive end is already being touted as the likely No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, but that's not the only goal he's got his eye on as he enters his junior campaign.

"I have to live up to my expectations, which is to break all the records that I can, dominate by a wide margin," Garrett said Tuesday at SEC media days, according to Alex Scarbrough of ESPN. "Let it be unanimous. Don't let anyone be close to how good you are, no matter what the division is - one, two or three. It doesn't matter, everyone plays football. It doesn't matter who the competition is."

Garrett led the SEC in sacks last year with 11.5, and has 23 total in his two-year Aggies career. To tie the single-season sack record of 24, Garrett will need to ramp up the production even more, but nothing is deterring him from going after the number.

"Absolutely," Garrett said when asked if he could reach the 20-sack plateau, and then some.

And despite speculation that Garrett could sit out the season to preserve his health, he said Tuesday he's planning to go all out in what will probably be his final season with the Aggies.

The pass-rusher can start tallying sacks Sept. 3, when the Aggies open their season at home against UCLA.
