Safety Deontay Evans transferring out of Mississippi State

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Mississippi State confirmed Monday at SEC Media Day that safety Deontay Evans is transferring out of the Bulldogs' program, according to John Taylor of College Football Talk.

Evans' name was not on the Bulldogs roster made available during Media Day. No reason was given for the transfer.

The 5-foot-10, 204-pound safety played in 39 games over three seasons, and recorded 33 tackles last year.

The McComb, Miss. native has one more year of eligibility, and is able to play right away as a grad transfer should he transfer to another FBS program.
