Remembering 5 memorable moments from SEC Media Days

Marvin Gentry-USA TODAY Sports

While it may seem like the 2015 season just ended, the 2016 campaign is less than two months away, which means media days are here.

While each conference holds their own annual press event, it's undoubtedly the SEC version that gets the most attention. More than 1,200 media members will be on hand as each school brings three players and its head coach to the event.

With this year's version set to begin Monday, here's five of the more memorable moments from the past.

Arkansas' Bret Bielema gets naughty in describing Texas win

Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema is one of the best quotes in college football, and has been the star of SEC Media Days since making the move from Wisconsin in 2013. Undoubtedly his best line came at last year's event, when he described the feeling of beating Texas in the 2014 Texas Bowl as "borderline erotic."

Florida's Tim Tebow gets asked if he's saving himself for marriage

Heading in to the 2009 season, Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was the biggest star in college football. Tebowmania had swept the nation, and fans across the country were interested in the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner's life on and off the field. Perhaps a little too interested. During his podium time at the 2009 event, Tebow was asked if he was saving himself for marriage, a question that he handled as easily as opposing defenses throughout his four-year Gator career.

Texas A&M's Johnny Manziel swarmed by media

After winning the Heisman Trophy in 2012, Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel was the toast of the college football world. Add in the controversy surrounding his premature exit from the Manning Passing Academy just weeks prior, and the media frenzy around "Johnny Football" was something unseen. Manziel was surrounded by reporters from the time he arrived until the time he left.

Alabama's Nick Saban compares agents to pimps

Despite winning four national titles in nine years at Alabama, Nick Saban seems to be in a surly mood whenever he meets with media, and the yearly event is no exception. At the 2010 event, the legendary coach took to the podium and quickly compared sports agents to pimps for the way they go after college stars.

South Carolina's Steve Spurrier speaks the truth about Media Days

Throughout his time at Florida and South Carolina Steve Spurrier was undoubtedly the godfather of SEC Media Days. The 2016 event marks the first time the "Ole Ball Coach" won't be taking part since 2005, and the podium will be less entertaining for it. There's a mountain of great lines from Spurrier to choose from, but perhaps his best came in 2014 when he described the true essence of the media event.
