Michigan cancels American Samoa satellite camp due to Zika virus

Mitch Stringer-USA TODAY Sports

Amid concerns over the Zika virus, Jim Harbaugh and his Michigan staff have cancelled the satellite camp slated to take place this week in American Samoa.

Harbaugh's wife Sarah is currently pregnant, and the effect that the virus can have for newborns was enough to force the cancellation, as confirmed by John Raynar, communications director of the Republican Party of American Samoa.

Michigan already made a trip to the island earlier in June, but Harbaugh was not among the staff on the journey. He was slated to make the return voyage following a few camps in Hawaii prior to the cancellation.
