NCAA grants Houston CB Howard Wilson medical hardship waiver

Mike DiNovo-USA TODAY Sports

The NCAA granted Houston cornerback Howard Wilson a medical hardship waiver Monday, making him a sophomore in terms of eligibility for the upcoming 2016 campaign.

Wilson suffered a season-ending torn ACL in the third game of the 2015 season against Texas State, shortly after intercepting his first pass of the campaign.

The NCAA determined he didn't participate in enough games to exhaust a season of his eligibility due to the injury.

Wilson appeared in all 13 games as a true freshman during the 2014 season, making three starts and registering three interceptions.
