Auburn's Woody Barrett academically cleared to enroll

Auburn four-star recruit Woody Barrett has made the grade, and now Gus Malzahn can sleep a little easier.

The 6-foot-2, 219-pound dual-threat pivot was in dire straits academically, not having met the SAT requirements necessary to enroll in classes as of January. Bob Head, Barrett's coach at West Orange High School, has confirmed that Barrett has put himself in good academic standing for enrollment, according to Brandon Marcello of SEC Country.

Barrett confirmed the good news via Twitter.

Barrett is not the least bit short of confidence in his playing abilities heading into his first college season, but knows he needs to take the right approach.

"Yeah, honestly," Barrett told SEC Country in April when asked if he thought he could win the starting job out of the gate. "But it's not going to be easy. If I just come up there and do what I've got to do, put the hard work in, be a leader and be coachable, I can do anything. I can make good things happen."

Barrett acknowledges that he is still a work in progress, but Head had nothing but support and compliments for his field general.

"He's so strong and physical," Head said. "He's like a college kid now and I can't imagine in a couple years what he's going to look like."
