Texas A&M lands 4-star Santino Marchiol

Erich Schlegel-USA TODAY Sports

Santino Marchiol took the first step towards playing NCAA Division I football on Tuesday by announcing his commitment to Texas A&M.

The 6-foot-2, 222-pound linebacker out of IMG Academy brings depth to the Aggies at arguably the most dynamic defensive position. Marchiol chose Texas A&M over many other offers, including Cal, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Miami, Nebraska, Ohio State, Tennessee, and Wisconsin.

"I'm excited to play at such an amazing place that's incredibly passionate about the game I love," Marchiol told Taylor Hamm of 247Sports. "I'm thankful for the opportunity to play in front of such a blessed environment like the 12th Man and in the top division in college football."

Texas A&M head coach Kevin Sumlin also took to Twitter to share his excitement regarding the newest addition to his program.

Texas A&M opens its season Sept. 3 against visiting UCLA.
