Georgia's Chubb says he'll be back for opener

Georgia running back Nick Chubb expects to be on the field and in uniform when his team opens the 2016 season against North Carolina on Sept. 3.

Chubb, who missed the last half of the 2015 season due to a torn PCL in his knee, has vowed to "be ready to play in Atlanta" on Labor Day Weekend.

Despite Chubb's confidence, head coach Kirby Smart remains noncommittal about his star tailback's health status as it pertains to opening week, as he has been all offseason.

If healthy, Chubb could prove to be one of the top players in the SEC, and one of the most productive runners in the country. Last year, Chubb rushed for 747 yards and seven touchdowns on 92 carries, and was in the early Heisman Trophy conversation before the injury ended his campaign.

An established running game could be particularly important for the Bulldogs this year, given their lack of certainty at quarterback heading into the season.
