Oklahoma State's board of regents unanimously approved a two-year contract extension for head coach Mike Gundy on Friday, according to Kyle Frederickson of The Oklahoman.

Gundy, who had four years left on the eight-year deal he signed following the 2011 season, is now locked up through the 2021 campaign.

"Coach Gundy runs the program the right way," chair regent Joe Hall said. "We appreciate the integrity of the football operations from top to bottom. He is unwilling to compromise on the high standards he sets for his coaches, staff and players, and he leads by example.

"We were reminded earlier this year of the importance of having a coach who does things the right way and puts the interest of the university and team first."

Gundy, an Oklahoma State alum, has led the Cowboys to 10-plus wins in four of the last six seasons. He's established a 94-47 overall record in his 11 years at the helm, and has appeared in a bowl game in each season since his first.
