Nigel Bethel tweets he's transferring from Texas Tech

Texas Tech's secondary took a hit Wednesday as Nigel Bethel tweeted that he's transferring out of the program.

Bethel was a standout in his sophomore season, breaking up 12 passes and registering an interception in nine games played. He was likely to be a starter for the Red Raiders' defense heading into the 2016 campaign.
His departure will certainly hurt an already porous Texas Tech defense that ranked 112th in passing defense last season.
As per NCAA regulations, Bethel will be forced to sit out the 2016 season before becoming eligible the following campaign.
