Mora warns Rosen against becoming the next Johnny Manziel

Richard Mackson-USA TODAY Sports

There's no questioning Josh Rosen's talent, but UCLA coach Jim Mora has plenty of questions about his work ethic.

While Rosen excelled on the field as a freshman last season, the quarterback also made headlines when UCLA removed a hot tub from his dorm room, and more recently when he showed up on a golf course with an anti-Donald Trump cap - neither of which amused his coach.

"Unless he continues to work hard ... unless he makes good decisions ... unless he dedicates himself the way that guys like Tom Brady and Drew Brees and Peyton Manning have, then it's a pipe dream," Mora said of Rosen's professional aspirations.

"And I've asked him, 'Who do you want to be, Johnny Manziel or Tom Brady? And, you need to make that decision right now and you need to start working in the direction that you want to work in. So, if you're going to go out on Donald Trump's golf course and wear a hat that says 'F--- Trump,' I said, 'You're heading toward Johnny Manziel.' So, let's head toward Peyton Manning. Let's head toward Tom Brady. Let's head toward Troy Aikman, who spent an hour with him on Sunday, which was fantastic ... talking to him about the responsibilities of being a quarterback."

Rosen threw for 3,670 yards with 23 touchdowns and 11 interceptions in his first campaign with the Bruins, and is seen by many as a dark-horse candidate to win the Heisman Trophy in his sophomore year.

Several pundits also believe the Manhattan Beach, Calif., native is destined to be a first-round pick in the NFL draft down the road.
