Texas A&M lands 4-star S Derrick Tucker

Soobum Im / USA TODAY Sports

After losing a top recruit last week with Tate Martell's decommitment, Texas A&M got back on track Friday by landing four-star safety Derrick Tucker.

Tucker is ranked as the 20th-best safety in the country, and comes in 293rd on the ESPN 300 for the 2017 class. He joins Roshauud Paul and Grayson Reed as the third four-star recruit to commit to the Aggies.

The school's image to prospective players took a major hit with quarterback Martell's decommitment last week, followed by an apparent subtweet from receivers coach Aaron Moorehead that led four-star receiver Mannie Netherly to decommit as well. Tucker's decision to join Kevin Sumlin at Texas A&M is huge as the program attempts to reclaim its elite status.

Tucker had offers from a number of FBS programs including Alabama, Texas, USC, and Arkansas.
