Alabama schedules satellite camp in Harbaugh's backyard

Kelly Lambert-US PRESSWIRE

Jim Harbaugh plans to flood the country with Michigan satellite camps, so Alabama is bringing the battle for recruits to the Big Ten program's doorstep.

The Crimson Tide will take part in the Detroit SoundMind SoundBody camp from June 9-10, which happens to be just 42 miles from the Michigan campus.

It's an interesting about-face of sorts for Nick Saban's program, as the legendary coach's opinion on the camps earlier this season was to say, "I'm really not even thinking that it has that much value."

Alabama has reeled in either the nation's No. 1 or No. 2 recruiting classes in each of the last six years, so it's clear Saban has a handle on what works in attracting players. The fact he plans to go to Big Ten country to cast an even wider net shows the 64-year-old isn't afraid of adapting to the times.

For the record, Harbaugh and Michigan have 26 satellite camps planned in June alone, so Saban has a ways to go if he's going to approach that number.
