Alabama to begin attending satellite camps on limited basis

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

A week after the NCAA reversed its stance on satellite camps, Nick Saban and Alabama will begin attending satellite camps on a limited basis.

Saban still prefers to have prospects participate in the on-campus, team-sponsored camps but has initiated plans for Alabama coaches to take part in the camps.

"We're going to participate on a limited basis in some of those, (though) we're not allowed to promote where we're going, so I'm not going to comment on that," Saban said during an SEC coaches teleconference.

While Saban isn't a big fan of the camps, many SEC coaches are embracing the concept of taking their brand outside conference borders.

Missouri's Barry Odom plans to attend camps in Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, and Texas while Kentucky's Mark Stoops will appear at camps in Florida, Georgia, and Ohio.
