Texas Tech dismisses Dakota Allen, 2 others

Texas Tech announced the dismissal of linebacker Dakota Allen, as well as offensive linemen Robert Castaneda and Trace Ellison, on Thursday.

The trio was let go "due to a failure to uphold student-athlete expectations," the school said, according to ESPN's Jake Trotter.

Allen marks a fairly significant loss for the Red Raiders, as he was their second-leading tackler from a season ago. The redshirt sophomore also contributed on special teams and finished the year with 87 total tackles.

Castaneda and Ellison are less notable names, though the former appeared in all 13 games last season as a redshirt sophomore. Ellison, a freshman in 2015, did not see the field at all.
