Byron Cowart, the nation's top-recruit in 2015, and three other Auburn players were arrested on the weekend for possession of marijuana.

The sophomore defensive end was booked, along with Carlton Davis III, Ryan Davis, and Jeremiah Dinson, for possession of marijuana in the second degree, according to police logs obtained by Tom Green of the Opelika-Auburn News.

"I am aware of the situation and we will handle this matter appropriately," head coach Gus Malzahn said in a statement.

Carlton Davis was one of the team's top cornerbacks in 2015, registering 56 tackles and three interceptions, while Ryan Davis and Dinson are both depth players for the Tigers.

With discipline certainly coming, the program could be in tough to start the 2016 campaign. Auburn opens the season on Sept. 3 against last year's national runner-up, Clemson.
