Grad transfer QB Davis Webb to visit Auburn after committing to Colorado

The adventures of quarterback Davis Webb aren't over, as once thought.

Webb, a former starter at Texas Tech, announced on Jan. 27 that he was heading to Colorado as a graduate transfer. There, he would have an opportunity to regain a starting job and post big numbers in the pass-heavy Pac-12.

However, the one-time Red Raider has yet to sign his letter of intent with the Buffaloes, and told Jake Trotter of ESPN on Sunday that he is now planning to visit Auburn.

The Tigers are known to be seeking stability at the quarterback position. Head coach Gus Malzahn said Saturday he isn't close to naming a starter as Jeremy Johnson, Sean White, and junior college transfer John Franklin III continue to battle for the job.

Webb also recently took a trip to Cal, which is in need of a replacement for NFL-bound Jared Goff.

Webb has not withdrawn his commitment to Colorado, but the verbal pledge doesn't bind him to playing for the Buffaloes.

In his Texas Tech career, the senior passed for 5,557 yards and 46 touchdowns. He lost the starting job after injuries paved the way for the emergence of Patrick Mahomes.

Last year's starter for Colorado, Sefo Liufau, tossed for 2,418 yards and nine touchdowns in parts of 11 games. He's still on the roster, but Webb would represent a significant upgrade, at least on paper.
