NCAA Game Summary - Virginia at Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - Devin Street caught four passes for 58 yards and one of two touchdowns on the day as the Pittsburgh Panthers downed the Virginia Cavaliers, 14-3, in an Atlantic Coast Conference battle at Heinz Field.

Tyler Boyd led the Panthers (3-1, 2-1 ACC) with seven receptions for 111 yards. Tom Savage was intercepted twice and completed just 13-of-31 pass attempts while totaling 191 yards and a score.

David Watford completed only 15-of-37 pass attempts for 123 yards for Virginia (2-2, 0-1).Kevin Parks led the Cavaliers with 34 yards rushing and six receptions for 29 yards through the air.

Midway through the first quarter Dominique Terrell fumbled on a punt return, which was then recovered for Pittsburgh by Trenton Coles. The Panthers took over at the Virginia 19-yard line and four plays later James Conner scored on a six-yard touchdown run.

Another Virginia fumble led to a score for Pittsburgh later in the quarter. Watford lost the ball on a third-down run at the Virginia 18-yard line, which was recovered by Bam Bradley. Just two plays later Savage threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Street.

After a scoreless second quarter, the third was nearly the same until Ian Frye booted a 32-yard field goal for Virginia with 1:23 left in the period.

However with neither team scoring the rest of the game, Pittsburgh was able to pull out a win.

Both teams finished with less than 200 yards of total offense. Virginia had seven sacks and Pittsburgh finished with just eight rushing yards.
