Larry Shyatt is stepping down as Wyoming's head coach, the school confirmed on Monday.

Shyatt took the Cowboys to one NCAA tournament during his time as head coach, failing to advance past the Round of 64.

Wyoming introduced assistant Allen Edwards as new head coach at an afternoon press conference, with Shyatt saying, "I am very comfortable with the future of Wyoming basketball."

Shyatt returned to Wyoming in 2011 after spending five seasons with Clemson. His first head coaching gig came with the Cowboys in 1997. Over his latest run as Wyoming's head coach, he posted a 117-78 record.

Shyatt signed a five-year contract extension in July of 2015.

Last season the Cowboys finished 14-18, going 7-11 in Mountain West Conference play. They did not participate in any postseason tournaments.
