Nebraska's Shavon Shields alert, stable after being stretchered off court

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Nebraska's Shavon Shields was taken off the court on a stretcher after landing on his neck, upper back, and shoulder during Saturday's game against Rutgers.

The team announced Shields is alert, awake, and has feeling in his extremities, but head coach Tim Miles revealed Shields didn't recall anything about the incident.

Rutgers forward D.J. Foreman pump-faked Shields underneath the rim, and Shields' momentum from trying to block Foreman propelled him over the Scarlet Knights player's back and onto the floor.

Shavon Shields fall.
