Iowa State suspends Jameel McKay indefinitely

Reese Strickland-USA TODAY Sports

Iowa State forward Jameel McKay has been suspended indefinitely, the team announced.

The Cyclones didn't give a reason for suspending their fourth-leading scorer, though a media relations employee told Randy Peterson of the Des Moines Register it's "not legal related."

McKay, for his part, indicated on Twitter the ban may not last too long.

If the suspension does extend long term, however, it could be a significant blow to the No. 13 team in the country. McKay logs over 30 minutes per game for Iowa State, and averages 12.4 points and nine boards.

McKay has been playing through a knee injury recently, but has remained an important piece for Steve Prohm's club.

He didn't travel with the squad to Oklahoma State, where the Cyclones will face the Cowboys on Saturday.
