Dean Smith's old office chair to be repurposed for chemotherapy patients

The late Dean Smith's office chair has found a new home, thanks to Dr. Mark Graham.

Graham - the former Tar Heels professor and oncologist at the school's cancer research and treatment center - bought the baby blue chair belonging to the former North Carolina basketball coach to be used at his practice by chemotherapy patients.

Graham paid $15,000 for the chair Friday at Tar Heel coach Roy Williams' annual breakfast.

"We normally have La-Z-Boy type chairs for our patients when they are doing their chemotherapy," Graham told ESPN's Darren Rovell.

"We thought this would be something different. But since we have fans of all persuasions, including those who love Duke and NC State, I'm assuming some will take a picture in it; others will want to wait until another chair frees up; and others might even cuss it."

Smith died in February at the age of 83.
