Sophomore forward Omar Sherman will transfer out of Miami, coach Jim Larranaga announced Sunday.

No reason was offered for the departure, which goes into effect immediately.

In a press release sent after 11 p.m. Sunday, Larranaga said his program "thanks Omar for his contributions to the team last season and we wish him the best of luck in his future."

Sherman averaged 4.8 points and 2.3 rebounds over 36 games with the Hurricanes last season. He started 10 games in his freshman campaign.

The Duncanville, Texas, native was a three-star prospect out of high school, who committed to Miami in Sept. 2013.

ESPN ranked him as the No. 20 center prospect among class of 2014 prospects, as well as the 10th best recruit in his home state of Texas.
