Baylor's Deng Deng ineligible to return for 2015 season

Baylor forward Deng Deng will not return to the program in 2015-16 because he has exhausted his eligibility, the school confirmed Monday.

The eligibility issue, as reported by Shehan Jayarajah of The Dallas Morning News, appears to concern Deng's timeline when graduating from high school in his native Australia.

Deng, who is currently 23, will be 24 before he graduates Baylor. A typical player exhausts their eligibility five years out of high school.

Baylor had reportedly been lobbying to get Deng an extra year, but its appeal was not granted.

In his sole season in Waco, Texas in 2014, Deng appeared in only 13 games and averaged 4.1 points and 2.5 rebounds in 10.5 minutes per game.

A highly touted junior college prospect, Deng committed to Baylor over offers from LSU and Nebraska.
