SEC to distribute record $31.2M payout to each of its member schools

John David Mercer / USA TODAY Sports

The rich get richer in the SEC.

The conference's 14 schools will divide up a record $436.8 million in revenue this year, the conference announced Friday.

The conference actually set a new high-water mark with $455.8 million in earnings for the fiscal year set to end Aug. 1, but $19 million will be retained by schools that played in bowl games.

The $436.8 million total is certainly nothing to scoff at, however. It equates to $31.2 million per SEC school, a jump of more than $10 million per school from last year's record totals.

By comparison, McMurphy reports the Big 12 will pay out about $250 million to its institutions and the Big Ten distributed $338.9 million in the most recent fiscal year for which data is available.
