Frank Kaminsky prefers Jahlil Okafor for top draft pick

Frank Kaminsky is playing favorites ahead of June's NBA draft.

When Sports Illustrated asked him which player he'd draft first overall, Kaminsky said he'd build a franchise around former Duke big man Jahlil Okafor, though it would depend on the team's needs.

"I think Jahlil is a good player. Just the way he plays and how big he is and how strong he is," explained Kaminsky. "He's very advanced for his age. If I was going to build a franchise, my personal favorite is Jahlil, just because I know him more personally."

Okafor, who averaged 17.3 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Blue Devils last season, is in the running for the No. 1 spot against former Kentucky forward Karl-Anthony Towns, who posted 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds.

Kaminsky doesn't necessarily think he should be included in the conversation about the top draft pick himself.

"With the way the NBA is set up these days they like the younger prospects, guys who are one-and-dones," said Kaminsky. "(Towns and Okafor) are both very good players who have very, very bright futures."

Posting 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds last season for Wisconsin, Kaminsky is projected to go No. 12 in the draft by DraftExpress.
