Big 12 commissioner Bowlsby calls Kansas State court storm 'inappropriate and unacceptable'

The Big 12 has finally spoken up regarding the Kansas State court-storming issue from Monday's 70-63 win over Kansas.

Conference commissioner Bob Bowlsby reprimanded the Wildcats in a public release on Tuesday, which featured the following:

I am grateful for the immediate and professional engagement of the leadership at Kansas State University regarding the game management issues experienced after the game. Having stated that, the interaction of spectators with players, coaches, and staff members was inappropriate and unacceptable. The Kansas State Department of Athletics has a written event management policy which was unsuccessful in ensuring the safety and security of both game participants and spectators. Revisions to policies and procedures must guarantee that no future incidents occur.

Bowlsby also admitted that the conference does not currently have policies in place regarding crowd language. He stated his intention to discuss how to deal with that matter in the next set of meetings between athletic directors and CEOs.

He also said it is responsibility of teams to ensure the security of players, coaches and spectators at games.

Following the Wildcats win over the Jayhawks on Monday Kansas State fans rushed to the court, including one - Nathan Power - who shoved Kansas forward Jamari Traylor. Power was cited Wednesday by campus police following the incident.
