After a huge victory earlier in the week, No. 8 Notre Dame suffered a letdown Saturday against Pittsburgh, falling 76-72 to the Panthers.

Pitt led by eight late in the game, but a 9-0 run from Notre Dame gave the Irish a 72-71 lead with under a minute to play. The Panthers responded, however, as James Robinson nailed a late runner to retake the lead.

After Jamel Artis hit a pair of free throws to extend Pitt's lead, Robinson came away with a steal on Notre Dame's ensuing possession and then hit one more from the charity stripe to seal the win.

Artis finished with a game-high 20 points on 8-of-14 shooting while chipping in eight boards, three assists and two steals. Michael Young added 16 for the Panthers, while Robinson notched his first career double-double with 15 points and 10 assists.

Notre Dame had four players score in double figures with Demetrius Jackson leading the way with 15. The problem for the Irish was on the defensive end, where they allowed Pitt to shoot a blistering 58.5 percent from the field.

It was just the third loss of the season for the Fighting Irish (20-3) and it comes after topping No. 4 Duke 77-73 on Wednesday. Pittsburgh improved to 14-8 with a 4-5 record in conference play.
