Providence guard Dunn cleared for contact after shoulder injury

Providence point guard Kris Dunn has been cleared for contact after missing all but four games last season due to his second shoulder injury in as many years.

Friars coach Ed Cooley said Dunn should be available for Providence's season opener against Albany on November 15, according to ESPN.

"Physically, it felt great," Dunn said after taking part in a team workout Wednesday. "I'm just glad to be back on the court."

In 29 games for Providence over two seasons, Dunn has averaged 5.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 1.2 steals. The 6-foot-3 guard has struggled shooting the ball, converting just 38.7 percent of his field goal attempts and 70.5 percent of his free throw attempts.

The Friars made the NCAA tournament last season for the first time in 10 years, losing to North Carolina in the second round.
