West Virginia star Carter returning for senior season

West Virginia will have its leader back on the court for next season, as Jevon Carter announced Monday that he's withdrawn from the NBA draft and will play his senior season with the Mountaineers.

"I'm excited about coming back to West Virginia and playing with my teammates for my senior season," Carter said in a statement. "The entire NBA process was a great experience for me to gain valuable feedback that I can use to prepare for my future."

Carter led West Virginia in scoring at 13.2 points per game and was named the Big 12 defensive player of the year. His swarming on-the-ball defense is essential for Bob Huggins' "Press Virginia" system to work, and Carter's return guarantees another year of trouble for Mountaineer opponents.
