Oral Roberts names Baylor's Paul Mills head coach

Oral Roberts has tabbed Baylor assistant Paul Mills as its next head coach, the program confirmed Friday.

The Golden Eagles had been set on finding a coach with strong Christian beliefs, and Mills - who comes from religion-based Baylor - presumably satisfies that desire.

Mills steps into the shoes left vacant by Scott Sutton, who was fired April 10 after 18 seasons at the helm. Sutton was reportedly pressured into recruiting players that had no tattoos and that scored well on a "faith exam," though school president William Wilson denied those claims after Sutton's dismissal. Wilson did acknowledge the university has no interest in compromising its Christian values.

Oral Roberts posted an 8-22 record this past season, the lone single-digit win total for Sutton during his tenure.

Mills had been at Baylor since 2003, and became an assistant coach in 2009.
