Report: Wichita State finalizes series with Baylor after joining AAC

Fresh off being enshrined as the newest member of the American Athletic Conference, Wichita State finalized a home-and-home series with Baylor that will begin next season, sources told FanRag Sports' Jon Rothstein.

Wichita State, widely expected to enter the 2017-18 campaign as a ranked team, is coming off a 31-5 season, but only received a No. 10 seed in the NCAA tournament due to its lackluster schedule.

The Shockers jumped to the AAC in hopes of improving their field of competitors, thereby also making them more attractive for Power 5 programs looking to fill out their non-conference schedules. The former Missouri Valley Conference powerhouse went 30-4 in the regular season last year, before going 1-1 in March Madness.

Baylor will reportedly host the first leg of the series in Waco, while Wichita State will get its home date during the 2018-19 campaign. Baylor finished second in the Big 12 last year and is expected to boast another formidable squad in 2017-18, especially if star big man Johnathan Motley returns for his senior season.
