Mississippi State's Quinndary Weatherspoon will be out for the next five months after undergoing surgery to repair his injured wrist, head coach Ben Howland announced.

The Bulldogs' leading scorer suffered the injury in late November and was announced to be out for the season. He opted against having surgery and returned to the lineup just a couple games later, leading the team in scoring for the remainder of the schedule, averaging 16.5 points per contest.

Weatherspoon was a highly touted recruit coming out of Mississippi in the class of 2015, ranking second in the state, and scored 12 points per game in his freshman campaign.

The timetable for his return is mid-to-late September, meaning he should be at full strength for his junior season.
