Rice's Marcus Evans to transfer

Erik Williams / USA TODAY Sports

Rice is losing its leading scorer.

Owls guard Marcus Evans announced he will be transferring from the program after a season that saw him average 19 points per game.

The sophomore's departure could have something to do with the coaching change, as Mike Rhoades recently left for VCU and the program promoted assistant Scott Pera to take over.

There should be no shortage of suitors for a player who can drop nearly 20 points a night.

Evans will have two years of eligibility remaining, but will have to sit out the 2017-18 campaign because of transfer rules.
