Watch: Notre Dame gets hosed by officials on back-to-back calls

Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

It's a road game for Duke at Notre Dame on Monday, but the Blue Devils certainly seem to be getting the benefit of a hometown whistle from the officiating crew.

With Duke holding a seven-point lead early in the second half, Jayson Tatum took a pass while cutting down the lane and finished with an acrobatic layup over Steve Vasturia.

The only problem? Vasturia was standing firmly in the lane waiting for Tatum's contact for a lengthy period of time prior to the collision. Somehow, the officials didn't notice this and called the Notre Dame defender for a blocking foul, giving Tatum the basket as well.

As egregious as that call was, the decision on the very next possession may have been even worse.

Reserve guard Temple Gibbs took defender Matt Jones to the basket, getting fouled as he rose up to shoot a runner, with the shot banking home for an impressive basket.

While the officials correctly called the violation on Jones, they didn't allow the basket to count, claiming the foul didn't occur in the act of shooting. This is despite the fact that the contact was made only because Gibbs attempted a shot.
