After conducting a thorough review into who was responsible for the incident between New Mexico and Colorado State on Saturday, the Mountain West Board of Directors have come to a conclusion.

They don't know who's responsible.

The conference released a statement Monday regarding the findings of the investigation into the incident that saw an altercation between Colorado State player Emmanuel Omogbo and New Mexico assistant Terrence Rencher. The statement puts the responsibility on both parties, but not any one in particular for starting the conflict.

"A number of conflicting perspectives have emerged and, in some cases, there is no definitive proof as to the responsible party or parties," an excerpt from the statement reads. "Unfortunately, as a byproduct of our current electronic media society and immediate news cycle, there have also been inaccurate information and unsubstantiated reports circulated regarding what may or may not have occurred."

The incident in question came to fruition when Rencher allegedly provoked Omogbo, telling the forward to "Take that L, boy." Omogbo then admitted to "exploding" and needed to be restrained by head coach Larry Eustachy.

"The Colorado State and New Mexico athletic departments have already initiated follow-up conversations with all appropriate parties to address the events of this past Saturday," the statement from the Mountain West said. "Those will continue, with the institutions taking corrective measures they deem appropriate and advising the Conference office accordingly."
