Indiana State paid tribute to its most famous alum Wednesday by knocking off No. 16 Butler on Larry Bird's 60th birthday.

The Bulldogs entered play undefeated, while the 10-point underdog Sycamores had lost nine straight games to ranked opponents. With that in mind, the result was certainly worthy of the celebration, as fans stormed the court following the final buzzer.

Matt Van Scyoc and Brenton Scott put on a shooting display for Indiana State that would have impressed Bird, draining a combined 9-of-15 from beyond the arc. Scott's free throw in the dying seconds proved to be the winning margin.

Bird starred at the school from 1976-79, averaging 30.3 points over his career with the program. He was named Associated Press player of the year in 1979, and led the Sycamores to the NCAA championship game where they lost to Magic Johnson and Michigan State.
