Michigan State's Lourawls Nairn Jr.: Embracing key role with program

Nairn has been the recipient of early praise from head coach Tom Izzo, the Detroit Free Press reports. "I think Tum has been an unbelievable asset in a lot of different ways," the Spartans' coach stated in reference to Nairn.

Analysis:

Nairn (aka "Tum Tum") was limited last season by a foot injury, and underwent a corrective procedure at the end of the year. He is now making his presence known in practice, as well as serving as a mentor with young players and assisting in recruiting. Tum Tum has already been voted as a captain in his sophomore season, and if his health holds up, he could take on much of the ball handling duties for Michigan State in the upcoming season.
