Indiana's Hartman out indefinitely after knee surgery

Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Indiana forward Collin Hartman is out indefinitely after undergoing knee surgery Wednesday to repair damage from a non-contact injury in practice last week.

"Any time you see one of your players go down to injury, it tears you up as a person and as a program - even more so when it's someone like Collin Hartman who has been a huge part of our success and is in his senior year," head coach Tom Crean said in a statement. "We all look forward to helping him recover and rehabilitate."

The actual injury hasn't been announced, so it's unclear at this time just how long the senior forward will be sidelined. The Hoosiers open the 2016-17 campaign on Nov. 11 against Kansas in the Armed Forces Classic.

Hartman was expected to see an increased role after averaging 21 minutes, five points, and 3.1 rebounds per game last season.
