Virginia Tech lands 4-star PG Wabissa Bede

Jim Dedmon-USA TODAY Sports

Buzz Williams landed a major piece for Virginia Tech's future Wednesday, as four-star point guard Wabissa Bede committed to the Hokies.

The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder is ranked as the 17th-best point guard in the 2017 recruiting class, and comes in 87th overall on the ESPN 100.

Bede's commitment is the latest success for Williams as he attempts to rebuild the program. The third-year coach has already landed highly touted Canadian prospect Nickeil Alexander-Walker for the 2017 recruiting class, and Bede's pledge gives Williams a second four-star recruit for that cycle.

The Massachusetts native held offers from Division I programs including UMass, La Salle, Minnesota, and Butler before choosing the Hokies.
