Oregon State's Duvivier to miss season for personal reasons

Susan Ragan-USA TODAY Sports

Oregon State will be without Malcolm Duvivier for the entire 2016-17 season, as the school announced Thursday the senior guard will be absent for personal reasons.

The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder was a key depth piece for the Beavers last season, scoring 6.1 points and grabbing 2.4 rebounds per game. The Toronto native also made 38 percent of his shots from beyond the arc, and was expected to be a key member of the backcourt after Gary Payton II graduated to the NBA after last season.

Stephen Thompson Jr. will be counted on to repeat his outstanding freshman season to make up for Duvivier's absence in the backcourt. The 6-foot-4, 170-pounder averaged 10.6 points per game while shooting 41 percent from deep in his first collegiate season.
