Anthony Davis helped convince Calipari to assist Louisiana flood victims

Thanks to a little urging from one of his former players, John Calipari is donating the proceeds from this weekend's Coach Cal Celebrity Softball Challenge to victims of the Louisiana flood.

New Orleans Pelicans power forward Anthony Davis was among the group who convinced the Kentucky bench boss to help out, as all ticket sales from both the softball game and home run derby will now go to the Louisiana flooding relief via Red Cross.

"(Davis is) one of the ones who said, 'Coach, you’ve got to do something this weekend for Baton Rouge,'" Calipari told Brett Dawson of the New Orleans Advocate.

Davis served as a player under Calipari during the 2011-12 season, leading Kentucky to the school's eighth NCAA Championship.

Former Wildcats players Terrence Jones, Karl-Anthony Towns, and Nerlens Noel will also partake in this summer's game. Davis is currently on vacation, but may return to attend, according to Calipari.
