Oregon's Dillon Brooks out indefinitely following foot surgery

Robert Hanashiro USA TODAY Sports

The worst nightmare for Oregon head coach Dana Altman seems to have come true.

Junior forward Dillon Brooks will be out indefinitely following surgery to repair an injured left foot, according to Tyson Alger of The Oregonian. Altman was able to provide some insight, but remained non-committal on a return date for his star player.

"He's going to be out for a while," Altman said. "He had surgery and we'll just have to wait and see what the doctors say."

The indefinite nature of Brooks' recovery time will hurt the Ducks exponentially in 2016. Brooks led the team in scoring last season and became the first player in school history to reach 1,000 points as a sophomore.

Brooks averaged 16.7 points along with 5.4 rebounds and 3.1 assists on his way to being named a first-team all-Pac-12 pick last season.
