Oklahoma State's Jawun Evans cleared for basketball activities

Rob Ferguson / USA TODAY Sports

Oklahoma State guard Jawun Evans has been cleared to resume all basketball activities following his recovery from a shoulder injury that ended his freshman season early, head coach Brad Underwood told Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Evans missed the season's final nine games due to the ailment, but his 12.9 points and 4.9 assists per game when in the lineup were still enough to earn Big 12 Freshman of the Year honors. The Dallas native led all first-year players in the conference in both categories.

A healthy Evans will attempt to lead a turnaround in Stillwater next season under new head coach Underwood, who was hired to take over for Travis Ford after a disappointing 12-20 record in 2015-16.

Oklahoma State hasn't won an NCAA tournament game since the 2009-10 campaign.
