New Baylor athletic director Mack Rhoades was officially introduced Monday at Big 12 media days in Dallas.

The 11th athletic director in school history took to the podium and explained why he left Missouri for Baylor.

“We love a fixer-upper. That’s a staple in our household." said Rhoades."I never looked at it as a comparison. I just think this is a wonderful opportunity. I want to be a part of an athletic department that's committed to excellence in all areas. Why Baylor? Baylor is a great institution where there is the integration of faith, academic excellence, and athletic excellence."

Rhoades comes to Baylor at a difficult time, following the revelation that the school turned a blind eye to a number of sexual-assault claims involving football players.

"I do not pretend to have a deep understanding of all that happened here before, but we will move forward." said Rhoades. "There's just certain things we won't tolerate, and moving forward everybody will be on the same page. The Baylor community has done a great job fact finding and implementing policy."

While Jim Grobe was named coach after Art Briles was let go, the question as to who will coach Baylor in 2017 and when will search commence, was answered on Monday.

"Immediately, we'll have things lined up by the time the season ends, if need be."

The 50-year-old, Tucson, Ariz. native was proud of what he accomplished in the very short time he was at Missouri.

"Though my time in Columbia was short, the memories will last a lifetime.I think the University of Missouri is in a better place than where it was 15 months ago"

Rhoades touched on what his first mission will be when he arrives in Waco, as the new director of athletics.

"Number one is establishing relationships. Getting to know the staff. Same with the head coaches and donors."
