Report: Fairleigh Dickinson coach Herenda receives 5-year extension

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Fairleigh Dickinson has rewarded head coach Greg Herenda with a five-year contract extension, a source told Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

The 55-year-old took over the Knights position prior to the 2013-14 season after five years with UMass-Lowell. Herenda's first two seasons with Fairleigh Dickinson were a struggle, as the team posted a 18-42 combined record, including a dismal 9-25 conference mark.

Herenda led a resurgent group in 2015-16, capturing the Northeast Conference tournament, and securing a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

In his three seasons with the school, Herenda's total record is 36-57, with a 20-32 mark in conference play.
